A new year a new book.

As you can see we have quite a few suggestions for our first read (listed on the right). I think I have listed all of them. Please let me know if I missed any and I will add them to the list. It would be great if we could make a decision by the first.

I would like to go ahead and set the date for our discussion now. This way we can put it on our calendars. I am looking at the 28th of October. I will hold off on the location until we determine what book(s) we will read.

Remember, if we have interest in more than one book we can get a couple groups going. If you haven't joined in, make sure that you become a contributor. We want to hear from you!

  1. Hmmm... I voted for my favorite, but that being said, all the selections look fantastic. Can't wait!

  2. I just want to say that I like the look of the whole web page. Thank you Shelee for getting us to read!

  3. Oh, what a cool new look.

And I just have to say--Columbine is not nearly as depressing as you might think. It's completely compelling and riveting, and not at all gratuitous. It's making me nutty not having someone to talk about it with, so someone please read it. It's one of those books you have to talk about (especially when you teach high school). Pretty please?

  4. October 28 works for me. I like that it is not a Friday!

  5. I can't believe I visited this site and voted! I'm already a better person than I was last year!

  6. I just started Columbine and can't really stop weeping, but I'm wimpy and fragile, and it is every bit as compelling as Gill says. I already voted for it over on the right, so I'm just sayin'. I think it could make for an interesting discussion. And necessitate a therapy session for me, but that's beside the point.
